Sky Germany reports that Manchester United are monitoring Leon Goretzka’s situation at Bayern Munich as his future looks uncertain.
Due to Bayern’s interest and pursuit of Declan Rice, Goretzka is likely to lose his place in the Bayern starting 11. The midfielder has fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel with the situation being exacerbated in the final game of the season when Goretzka was subbed on in the 71st minute and then subbed off in the 85th.
Bayern are also set to complete the signing of Konrad Laimer, which could push Goretzka even further down the pecking order.
However, Goretzka does not want to leave Bayern as he completely identifies with the club. While Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also supports the midfielder in staying at the club.
Goretzka has been a mainstay of the Bayern midfield for several years but as of late he has failed to compliment Joshua Kimmich, hence the move for Rice as Tuchel wants a number six who can allow Kimmich to use his offensive qualities. This is something Goretzka doesn’t do. This season, the 28-year-old has played 40 times for Bayern scoring six and assisting six.
