Jordi Alba will leave Barcelona at the end of the season despite having one more year on his contract. The left-back has made the decision to leave the club and will be looking for a new challenge, according to Mundo Deportivo.
On Sunday, like Sergio Busquets, the 34-year-old will bid farewell to the Barça fans in the match against Mallorca at Camp Nou. After a year with just 13 starts and 23 appearances in La Liga, Alba will follow in the footsteps of Busquets and Gerard Piqué, who retired in November.
During his 11 seasons at Barça, Alba has played a key role in the club’s success and has made 458 official appearances, scoring 27 goals and winning six La Liga titles, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, five Copa del Rey, one European Super Cup and four Spanish Super Cups.
Last week the Spain international met with club president Joan Laporta and Alejandro Echevarría in a Barcelona restaurant to discuss his future, and after a period of reflection, he has made the decision to move on.
