Wolfsburg are intensifying their efforts to sign Mattia Viti from Empoli, according to Bild.
A left-footed centre-back who stands at 6’2”, the 20-year-old has played 27 games in all competitions for the first team up to now since his debut in 2020. The Italian is under contract with the Tuscany club until 2025.
It’s now reported that the two clubs are in advanced talks over the signing, with Wolfsburg expected to make an offer of €12m. Empoli however reportedly want €20m for Viti’s services.
Other Serie A clubs are also interested in the young defender, who has played twice for Italy’s U21 national team. Last season, he played 20 league games, helping Empoli stay clear from relegation in their return to the Italian top-flight.
He would be the fourth signing for the Wolves, who have already added the likes of Jakub Kaminski and Patrick Wimmer to their squad ahead of next season.
