Leeds United join Brighton and Burnley in the race for Liverpool midfielder James Milner

Leeds United are keen on bringing Liverpool midfielder James Milner back to Elland Road this summer, reports the Daily Mail.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at the Anfield club and is set to leave having not been offered a new deal.

The Whites would love to sign Milner again, but they have to stay up to have a chance.

Brighton & Hove Albion are also interested in recruiting the services of the utility player.

The Seagulls are favourites to sign Milner but they face competition from newly promoted Burnley.

Clarets manager Vincent Kompany is eyeing a reunion with the former England youth international.

Both played together at Manchester City, and the Belgian reckons his former teammate’s huge experience will come in handy.

However, a move to Yorkshire could be more appealing to the Leeds academy graduate.

Milner spent six years progressing through their youth ranks before making his first-team debut in 2002 aged 16.

He left for Newcastle United two years later before joining Aston Villa in 2008 after a brief loan spell in 2005.

Milner has since played over 600 Premier League games and boasts huge experience and quality.

Leeds could do with such a legend but will need to win their remaining two games of the campaign and hope other results go their way.

They are 18th in the table, with a point between them and safety.

Leeds face West Ham United on Sunday before playing Tottenham Hotspur in the last game of the season.

Manager Sam Allardyce will fancy his side’s survival chances, but failure to pick up all remaining six points could prove costly.
