Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva in regular contact with PSG’s Luís Campos and interested in a move to the Parc des Princes

According to L’Équipe, Bernardo Silva (28) wants to leave Manchester City this summer and is interested in joining Paris Saint-Germain.

As initially revealed by Le Parisien, PSG have made Silva the club’s number one target to replace the outgoing Lionel Messi (35) this summer. With the futures of Neymar (31), and even Hugo Ekitiké (20) uncertain heading into the upcoming transfer window, Luís Campos faces the task of having to reconstruct Les Parisiens’ forward line, and as revealed by L’Équipe, he is in regular contact with Silva, whom he signed for AS Monaco back in 2014.

Despite flourishing on the pitch in Manchester, L’Équipe report that he isn’t particularly fond of life in the north of England. However, Silva won’t necessarily get the final word on his future. The Portuguese international has a contract that runs until 2025, and when he expressed a desire to leave last summer, a departure wasn’t sanctioned by Pep Guardiola, nor by the hierarchy at the club.

Campos, who remains in regular communication with Silva since their days at Monaco, will try once again to bring the Manchester City player to the Parc des Princes this summer, having failed to do so at the beginning of the season. Silva would like a move to Paris, a city where he already spends a lot of his free time.

However, there remain obstacles to overcome if a deal is to happen. Notably, the negotiations with the reigning Premier League champions could be difficult given what L’Équipe have described as “not idyllic” relations between the two state-owned clubs.
