Borussia Dortmund want to extend Mats Hummels’ expiring contract and hope to reach an agreement with the 34-year-old centre-back soon.
“We are in good talks,” BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl told Sky Germany on Sunday.
“I have nothing official to announce today. But I have extensive talks with Mats every week.
“We want to extend with Mats, he knows that.”
The fact that Hummels is carefully considering his decision at this stage of his career “is something we understand very well,” Kehl said.
But he also stressed that the time of waiting and weighing things up must come to an end soon.
“He knows we need a decision from him soon – preferably before the end of the season.
