Should Ryan Gravenberch leave Bayern Munich this summer, the club could make a move for Chelsea’s Mateo Kovačić (29), according to Sport1.
Bayern have been quite adamant in their statements that Gravenberch is not for sale or loan this summer. However, the 20-year-old has expressed his disappointment in the lack of playing time this campaign. This could mean that the Dutch international is open to a move elsewhere in order to play regular competitive football.
The midfielder explained: “A year of training and playing at the highest level is nice and instructive. However, when I do play, it’s mainly in training. That has to change next season, then I really want to play weekly again. I haven’t spoken to club management yet, so I’ll wait and see what happens. But it’s clear that this role doesn’t meet my expectations.”
If Gravenberch is granted to leave either on loan or a preeminent basis, it’s believed that Bayern would try to replace him with another strong number eight. One of the top candidates is Chelsea’s Kovačić.
The Croatian international wishes to leave Chelsea this summer and previously worked under Tuchel where they won the Champions League together. Tuchel may be keen on reuniting with a former player who served him well. In turn, Gravenberch would get his ideal move away. Perhaps these are two deals that suit every party? Only time will tell.
