In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano offered an update on the future of Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic. It is believed that Fiorentina are in direct negotiations with Los Blancos over a potential loan deal for the Serbian striker this summer.

Jovic’s Unimpressive Form In Spanish Football

Jovic had to play a bit-part role for the Madrid giants last season when he struggled to impress with his performances for them in the opposition half. The Serbia international scored once and secured three assists in 19 appearances for Los Blancos in the previous campaign in multiple competitions.

The 24-year-old saw most of his game time come off the bench which could be why he averaged 1.1 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per game in La Liga.

At least, he was tidy with his ball distribution after completing 77.6% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Let Jovic Leave On Loan This Summer?

Jovic can be a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing regularly on the field. However, things have not worked out well for him at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium thus far. Jovic is primarily a centre-forward but can also serve as a secondary striker if needed.

Thus, it makes sense for the Madrid club to allow the Serbian striker to go out on loan so that he can get some confidence back in his game. His current Real Madrid contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, so Los Blancos can benefit from loaning him in the hope that he can come back as a much-improved version of himself next summer.

Based on his recent form, the Serbian striker would struggle to get any real game time if he decides to stay at Madrid beyond this summer.

Jovic’s lack of form must have seen his market value take a significant hit. Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to let him leave on loan so that the player has a better resale value in the future.
