“My heart is redder than most.”

Speaking to the Sky microphones after his side’s big 6-0 rout of FC Schalke 04, Thomas Müller has responded to the rumors that he is considering leaving the club. 

Thomas Müller once again found his way into the Bayern starting XI on Saturday. The German footballing legend also donned the captain’s armband and pulled the strings in attack as part of a double eight setting alongside Jamal Musiala. Müller set up quality scoring chances for Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman before scoring the opening goal himself in the 21st minute.

“Of course, I was pleased to open the floodgates,” Müller told the Sky microphones in his post-match interview, “It was a great feeling. The arena exploded. And after that we were ready to roll.”

Naturally, once his assessment of the match was over with, Müller had to comment on reports emerging in Germany’s main sporting tabloid midweek that he was considering leaving the club due to lack of regular playing time. After Oliver Kahn got his chance to rule such a move out first, it was Müller’s turn on Saturday.

“I’m not fond of having things written that purport to know my opinions and thoughts,” Müller said, “That’s total make believe. The newspaper with the four letters [BILD] sells a few more copies and then you broadcast outlets pile on.”

“My heart remains red,” Müller insisted, “Well, everyone’s heart is actually red. Mine is a perhaps little redder. There’s no time to discuss the future. We’re in the middle of a title fight.”
