Le Parisien have this afternoon confirmed The Times’ earlier reporting that former France captain Hugo Lloris had received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
There is no agreement as of yet between the veteran and the Gulf state, and he remains under contract with Tottenham Hotspur for another year – the 36-year-old is injured for the rest of the season, and his goal for the time being is to return to full fitness in time for pre-season.
Specifically, the offer would triple his current wages, which stand at over €450,000 a month. He will first meet with Daniel Levy, and wait to see what the North Londoners’ short-term projects are after a particularly tumultuous season – in particular, the next manager.
Although his family is settled in London, the goalkeeper is not necessarily against moving to a new league. The prospect of a final lucrative contract is also enticing, with other, less financially appealing, offers also on the table. A return to France, though, does not appear to be an option.
