In an article appearing on the website of Germany’s main tabloid today, SV Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch is quoted as saying that there will be a “prompt announcement” about his future. Playing the season of his life and generating interest from many Bundesliga clubs, the 29-year-old noted that his advisors were “in close exchange” with managers elsewhere whilst he concentrated on his football.
Bild reported earlier that the exit clause in Ducksch’s current contract with the Hanseaten must be triggered by June 1st. Hence, the attacker’s admission that the rush was on to get a deal done. The Dortmund-native has expressed a willingness to remain with Werder, but only if partner Niclas Füllkrug also remains to work alongside him.
The German rumor mills continue to churn with talk of Ducksch returning to his hometown academy club. For 13 years, Ducksch operated within the Borussia Dortmund system. He has made no secret of the fact that his Dortmund roots leave him open and eager to return back home. The latest Bild article contains more quotes from Ducksch about a potential move to the BVB.
“It’s the club of my heart,” Ducksch is quoted as saying, “I follow every game. If I had the opportunity to play there, it would be a dream come true.”
