Verratti considers summer PSG departure amid Juventus interest

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is considering his long-term future at Parc des Princes, according to Calciomercato.

The 30-year-old midfield maestro is the longest-serving player currently on PSG’s roster, having joined the club from Pescara in the summer of 2012.

He has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with the Ligue 1 giants, winning 29 major trophies, including eight league titles, after racking up 412 appearances contributing 11 goals and 61 assists.

However, this season has not gone to plan, with the Italian experiencing a drop-off in form that planted him on the end of increased criticism from the French press and a part of the PSG fan base.

The Italy international signed a new contract in March, keeping him at Parc des Princes until the summer of 2026 but is now reportedly unsettled at the club.

He has been linked with a move away from PSG on several occasions due to his undeniable quality, but the club have always opposed the idea of selling him.

However, Verratti is now considering leaving the French champions this summer and is not short on potential suitors, with a return to Serie A also an option for the midfielder.

Italian giants Juventus have been monitoring Verratti’s situation and are eyeing a summer swoop, but they could struggle to match the player’s enormous wage demands.

Verratti is currently on a reported €12 million a year salary package at the French Capital, which will pose a problem for the Bianconeri, who are facing uncertainties regarding their finances.

A move to Major League Soccer is also on the cards with David Beckham-owned Inter Miami, who can afford the player’s high wage demand, interested in his signature.

Verratti could be part of a planned overhaul by PSG, who are looking to ship several players out this summer, including attacking duo Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Barcelona are keen to re-sign Messi, with Saudi-based Al-Hilal also on the World Cup winner’s heels, while Neymar has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Newcastle United.
