FC Köln have announced that head coach Steffen Baumgart has extended his contract with the club.
Baumgart’s contract, which was due to expire next year, will now run until 2025, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.
“Last year, we made a clear statement: if things work out for all parties involved, the contract will be extended for another year. Anything else was out of the question,” Baumgart was quoted as saying.
“Why? Simply because it’s fun to be here, to work with my team and for FC. You can see that every day. We always talked about a journey, and I am convinced that it is not over yet. We can still achieve a lot here.
FC Köln managing director Christian Keller said:
“Our overall development speaks for itself. Steffen and his coaching staff work consistently and systematically according to a clear philosophy. Many players have experienced a positive personal development as a result. With his clear style, Steffen has created a strong collective with a lot of togetherness and team spirit.
“All these points speak in favor of continuing our work with Steffen, regardless of the sporting results we have achieved. Therefore, it is only right that we extend his contract, as we agreed in the summer. I’m very happy about it”.
