Nottingham Forest could appoint Craig Mulholland as new academy manager

Former academy chief at Rangers Craig Mulholland could be set to join Premier League club Nottingham Forest, according to The Sun.

The Tricky Trees’ current academy director Gary Brazil will be out of contract at the City Ground this summer after spending over 10 years at the club.

Recently appointed football director Ross Wilson reportedly wants his old friend Mulholland to replace the outgoing English manager.

Mulholland joined the Gers in 2003 and he has been praised for bringing the likes of Nathan Patterson and Billy Gilmour through the youth ranks.

However, it emerged earlier this week the Scottish manager will be leaving his role with the Glasgow-based outfit seeing a dramatic shake-up.

Chairman Douglas Park, managing director Stewart Robertson, director Andrew Dickson and Wilson have already exited the club, and the 45-year-old is now set to follow as well.

Forest face crucial four games

Steve Cooper’s men face a very tough relegation fight with Everton, Leeds United and Leicester City.

They will host Southampton on Monday before taking on Chelsea, Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

The Reds cannot afford to lose the upcoming home clash against the rock-bottom side if they want to maintain their top-flight status as their chances of victory in the other games don’t look great.

The Blues have been enduring a poor run of form but they have received a lift following their 3-1 success over Bournemouth at the weekend.

It is highly unlikely that title chasing Gunners will drop points even if they will be playing away from home.

And Forest are also expected to face a very tough contest in their final game at Crystal Palace who have seen a huge uptick in form under Roy Hodgson.
