“Frustrated” – Mason Greenwood believes his Manchester United career is over

Mason Greenwood has told his friends that his Manchester United career is over, according to The Sun. 

The talented forward was arrested over alleged attempted rape and assault a year ago. 

But the charges against him were dropped in February after his alleged victim and other witnesses refused to cooperate. 

Greenwood reportedly assumed he would be re-integrated into the United squad after he was cleared of all charges. 

The club released a statement confirming they would conduct an internal investigation, but the 21-year-old is no closer to returning despite 12 weeks having gone. 

He now believes his career at Old Trafford is finished, and is looking to reignite his career abroad. 

A source close to the player said: “Mason believes he’s finished at United.

“He’s sat at home kicking his heels and very frustrated.

“He wants to get back playing football but realises his situation is very complicated and it’s his own doing.

“He is determined to play football again but doesn’t think he’ll ever pull on a United shirt ever again.”

Greenwood was among the brightest prospects to have emerged from the Manchester United academy. 

He made over 120 senior appearances for the Red Devils after earning his competitive debut in March 2019. 

However, his career suffered a huge blow after being hit with charges of attempted rape and assault. 

The forward will look to reignite his career outside of England, with Serie A giants AC Milan reportedly interested in signing him. 

He is currently contracted to United until 2025, but they could release him if they don’t plan to re-integrate him into the squad. 

However, the problem for Greenwood is that he could face opposition at any other foreign club just like in England.
