Fortuna Düssledorf have announced a new club initiative where the club will offer free tickets to fans. The trial period will consist of three games next season.
The concept is called ‘Fortuna für alle’ and with the help of their sponsors Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Provinzial, TARGOBANK and Common Goal they will compensate the loss of matchday revenue. The sponsors have also agreed to invest into women and children’s football.
Members and season ticket holders will earn priority when the tickets become available for the games. Then on an online platform, fans can apply for their tickets, if the demand for the tickets is higher than the capacity of the stadium there will then be a raffle. The free ticket principle also applies to home fans. After the trial period, Fortuna plan to make all tickets to their home games free.
Düsseldorf’s stadium currently holds 54,600 but they have been averaging an attendence of 29,503 this season.
