777 Partners, who also currently own Serie B side Genoa, are close to completing a takeover of Premier League side Everton.
Marco Conterio has reported that after rumours emerged linking 777 Partners with a takeover of the Toffees, contacts have now intensified between the two parties and 777 have now substantially surpassed MSP Sports Capital in the race for the Liverpool-based club. Their takeover of Everton is now said to be close to completion.
777 currently own Genoa but they recently also took over Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin. Founded in 2015 by Steven Pasko and Josh Wander, it took over 6% of Sevilla in 2018 and 70% of Vasco da Gama in Brazil in February 2022. Already owner of English basketball club, the London Lions, 777 then acquired Standard Liège in Belgium and Red Star Paris in France, the third in the French capital. In October 2022, they also took over a majority of Melbourne Victory in Australia.
