Real Madrid agree terms for Celta Vigo prodigy Gabri Veiga

Real Madrid have reportedly agreed terms with Celta Vigo for the signing of highly-coveted youngster Gabri Veiga.

The Spanish attacking midfielder has been one of the revelations in La Liga this season, racking up nine goals and four assists.

The 20-year-old has also caught the attention of top European clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

Despite the interest, Celta have been unwilling to do business for anything lower than his €40 million release clause.

According to a new report from Sport, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez struck a verbal agreement with Celta president Carlos Mourino for the transfer of Veiga before the clash between the two sides over the weekend.

Madrid also had a chance to watch the Spaniard in close quarters during the game, which they prevailed 2-0 in the end.

Los Merengues would pay the transfer fee in instalments and allow Veiga to remain on loan at Celta next season as part of the agreement.

Madrid view the Spaniard as an asset for the future but far from a finished product. They are looking to integrate him into their plans in 2024.

It looks like a sensible move, given that the Spanish capital club are pursuing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. His arrival could see Veiga struggle for game time.

Madrid’s midfield is stacked with Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Toni Kroos, with the latter recently agreeing to an extension.

Luka Modric and Dani Ceballos appear to be next in line for new deals. They are keen on continuing at Santiago Bernabeu despite their contracts expiring in the summer.
