Borussia Dortmund took over first place in the German Bundesliga from Bayern Munich with a crushing 4-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt this evening.
Bayern suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of Mainz earlier in the day, and Dortmund took full advantage of their rival’s slip-up to crush Frankfurt in front of their home crowd at Signal Iduna Park.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the 19th minute, with Donyell Malen and Mats Hummels adding to the scoreline in a first half that saw Nico Schlotterbeck forced off on his comeback.
Malen added a second for himself and a fourth for Dortmund in the 66th minute, making it five goals in his last six Bundesliga games.
The win moved Dortmund one point clear of Bayern at the top of the table with five games left to play this season.
Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, sit ninth.
