Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he expects “everyone” to be fit for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Mainz, with the exception of the suspended Benjamin Pavard and long-term absentees Manuel Neuer and Lucas Hernandez.
“We are expecting everyone in training,” Tuchel revealed at his pre-match press conference today.
“If nothing unexpected happens, everyone is available,” the Bayern boss added.
One of the players pushing for a place in Tuchel’s starting line-up is Thomas Muller, who came off the bench in Wednesday’s 1-1 Champions League quarterfinal second leg draw with Manchester City – just as he did in the 3-0 first-leg defeat.
Asked about his decision to bench Muller and how the 33-year-old handled the situation, Tuchel replied:
“I’m a Muller fan myself. The games against Manchester didn’t suit him perfectly. Otherwise he probably would have played. Everything is fine at the moment. I was pleased with his reaction on the training pitch yesterday.
“He handled it in an exemplary manner. But I have to make my decisions, sometimes they are difficult. It’s nothing personal. Everyone has to accept the competitive situation.”
