Bayer Leverkusen are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Exequiel Palacios ahead of Thursday’s Europa League quarterfinal return leg against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
Palacios was forced off at the break of the first leg, which ended 1-1, and missed Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg.
Asked by Bild about the possibility of the Argentine midfielder being fit for Thursday’s game, Xabi Alonso said on Sunday:
“We have to wait, it is still questionable until Wednesday or Thursday. He is getting better every day. We are optimistic, but we have to wait a bit”.
