Liverpool and Manchester City interested in Chelsea’s Levi Colwill

Liverpool and Manchester City are tracking the progress of Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, according to the Evening Standard.

Both clubs need new defenders and could pounce on the left-footed centre-half.

Manchester City will lose Aymeric Laporte this summer and are in the market for replacements.

Also, Joel Matip’s contract with Liverpool expires in 2024, and the Merseyside club may decide to sell him this summer.

They will be looking for a replacement and will keep in mind that they must increase their homegrown quota.

The Premier League duo is considering a move for him this summer.

Chelsea plan on offloading many players in the summer transfer window to comply with financial fair play rules.

They have spent over £600 million in the last two transfer windows, and with no European football on the horizon, they need to sell.

Players from the club’s academy represent pure profit as they did not spend any money signing them.

If Chelsea decide to sell the defender, Man City and Liverpool will be waiting with open arms.

Colwill went on loan to Huddersfield Town last season, where he helped them push to the promotion play-offs.

In his 29 Championship performances last season, he helped them keep 11 clean sheets while contributing two goals and an assist.

The 20-year-old won 65% of his duels (64% aerial, 66% ground).

Unsurprisingly, Premier League clubs began to notice him. Brighton & Hove Albion demanded him in a deal for Marc Cucurella.

The Blues refused and sent him there on a season-long loan, and even though he took time to kick on, he is now shining for the Seagulls.

He has been outstanding in his duels for Brighton, winning 72% of all his Premier League duels.

He made three EFL Cup appearances and helped keep two clean sheets while winning 75% of his duels.

Many pundits believe he will get an England call-up ahead of the 2024 European Championship.

Colwill has two years left on his deal with Chelsea, and the London club will try to renew the contract.

They will look to cash in on the youngster if they cannot get him to sign a new deal.

It is unclear how much Chelsea will demand for the English international, but it’ll likely be north of £30 million.
