Werder Bremen are sweating over the fitness of Niclas Füllkrug ahead of their clash with Freiburg.
Niclas Füllkrug is a doubt for Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga match against Freiburg on Sunday.
The 30-year-old forward missed the two public team training sessions this week and instead trained individually.
“‘Fülle’ trained fully on Thursday, but today he worked individually again. We have to see how he feels,” Werder Bremen coach Ole Werner told reporters at a press conference today.
Füllkrug has been under a lot of pressure in recent weeks, Werner explained, pointing to the international break during which the Bremen striker was with the German national team.
“He also picked up a few knocks in the last few games,” Werner said.
Füllkrug is the Bundesliga’s top scorer this season with 16 goals in 26 games.
Werder face Freiburg on Sunday at 15.30 CET.
