UEFA has awarded Olympique de Marseille (OM) the honorary title of “Community Champion” for its work with FC La Castellane, a club in the north of Marseille, founded in 2019. This was announced on UEFA’s website.
The OM Foundation has been committed to the development and education of Castellanese children, with its involvement going beyond just paying the subscriptions of FC La Castellane. The OM Foundation has been inviting players and members of the club’s coaching staff to matches at the Vélodrome and providing access to the OM Campus for optimal training conditions.
Lucie Venet, executive director of the OM Foundation, says that “football conveys a lot of things” and that their vision is to give children opportunities to develop their cultural sensitivity, education, and training on many aspects of life.
UEFA’s recognition of the OM’s commitment is a significant achievement as they surpassed Ayr United Football Academy, which promotes diversity in local football, and the Croatian club NK Istra 1961, which sets up various activities for children in the region.
