Jesse Marsch has pulled out of the running for the Leicester City job, according to The Telegraph.
The 49-year-old is said to have taken this decision after a conversation with his coaching staff.
He has been out of job since getting sacked as Leeds United manager in February.
The American boss came close to becoming Southampton manager but the talks ultimately broke down over the length of the contract.
Marsch was reportedly the frontrunner to take over Leicester after they sacked Brendan Rodgers following the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace earlier this month.
Adam Sadler has been the Foxes’ caretaker boss but they have lost their previous two league matches under the 43-year-old.
Marsch was close to being appointed as the club’s permanent manager and he had been due at their training ground on Saturday.
However, after a conversation with his coaching staff, the American boss decided to withdraw from the talks.
He reportedly believes the Midlands club would need a different kind of manager next season if they were to suffer relegation to the Championship.
Liecester are currently sitting 19th in the standings with two points off safety. They picked up their latest defeat against Bournemouth at the weekend, with the Cherries running out 1-0 winners at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes now have a very tough fight to maintain their top-flight status by the end of the season. They face their toughest fixture this week as they travel to the Etihad Stadium to play Manchester City.
Their remaining run-in fixtures also include a home clash against Liverpool and an away trip to Newcastle United.
