Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich and Barcelona are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong in the summer.
Both clubs have had direct meetings with Frimpong’s agent Jeffery Lemmert. They will have to compete with Manchester United who have been interested in the 22-year-old since October. Frimpong’s current contract at Leverkusen expires in 2025.
For Bayern, a move for Frimpong will depend on their decision on João Cancelo which will be made in May. The right-back has struggled to maintain a starting position at Bayern since his loan move from Manchester City in the winter and when he has played has not looked convincing. While for Barcelona it will depend on their financial situation.
Frimpong has been one of Leverkusen’s stand-out players this season, the 22-year-old has played 36 times for Leverkusen scoring eight times and assisting nine mainly from right-wing back under Xabi Alonso and previous manager Gerardo Seoane.
