PSG’s season is reaching new levels of absurdity. On Wednesday, the club released a promotional video for their season ticket renewal campaign ahead of the 2023-2024 season. In this, Kylian Mbappé (24) takes centre stage. The France skipper speaks highly of the significance of the home support from Parisians. Mbappé is the only person talking in the clip, with Lionel Messi and Neymar notable absentees, further strengthening the belief that Mbappé is at the centre of PSG’s aspirations. However, it appears that the free-scoring French forward has been fooled.
Mbappé has taken to Instagram to announce via a statement he was distancing himself from the clip. Furthermore, he says that he was never informed by the club that his speech would be used to this end. “It looked like a basic interview during a club’s media day. I am not in agreement with the video that was published.” Mbappé adds that this peculiar situation is the very reason he’s taking his image rights very seriously, just like he did with the France national team.
Kylian Mbappé takes to Instagram to criticise the club’s season ticket renewal promotion video – which is centred around him, and does not feature Lionel Messi nor Neymar:

Mbappé ends his statement by writing that the PSG is a “great club” and a “big family“, “but it’s definitely not Kylian Saint-Germain.” After losing two games in a row, PSG certainly didn’t want to enter another controversy or to be at odds with their most prized asset, with the Ligue 1 title race now closer than ever as Lens and Marseille look to catch up.
