FC Schalke 04 announced that talismanic central defender Moritz Jenz is nursing a muscular injury incurred in the most recent Bundesliga match against Augsburg.
According to Westphalia’s Ruhrnachrichten and Germany’s Kicker Magazine, the 23-year-old will be unavailable for the weekend encounter against Leverkusen.
Assuming these reports are correct, S04 trainer Thomas Reis has several options with regard to a new CB partner for Maya Yoshida. Current left-back Henning Matriciani – in very fine form at the moment – could move inside to pair with Yoshida whilst the returning Thomas Ouwejan takes over on the left. Leo Greiml – who paired with Yoshida in a test fixture against Venlo during the international break – could also retain his place alongside the Schalke skipper.
