Tigre striker Mateo Retegui came close to moving to Serie A side Torino in the previous summer transfer window.
Retegui has caught Italian football by storm over the last week or so. The striker earned a shock call-up to the Azzurri and scored on his debut against England and also scored against Malta in his second start for the national team.
While the Argentina-born striker has been linked with Inter in recent days, Marco Conterio has reported that there were talks about the player heading to Torino in the summer transfer window of 2022. Intermediaries around the player had spoken to Il Toro about a move, but it never went through and he ended up staying at Tigre in his loan spell at the club.
He has been linked with a move to Inter in recent days, with the Nerazzurri said to be keeping tabs on the striker. Tigre are expected to sign Retegui permanently in the summer before moving him on.
