Augsburg confirm Yeboah’s long-term loss to injury

The packed FC Augsburg striker ranks will be a bit thinner in coming weeks after it was confirmed on Friday that on-loan striker Kelvin Yeboah would be out indefinitely due to a double-muscle tear in his ankle. It remains unclear if the 22-year-old will be able to make it back in time to compete for his loan club before the season is out.

Yeboah has made a total of eight appearances for the Fuggerstädter since arriving on loan in January. The Italian-Ghanaian pocketed a pair of assists off the bench in the first two league matches back from the winter World Cup break. FCA trainer Enrico Maaßen trusted him with two starts, after five consecutive relief appearances, on matchday 21 and 22.

The Italian youth international was never able to earn any more scorer points after his initial two matches. Yeboah was left unused on the FCA bench during the last two league rounds. Given that the club is essentially committed to signing another on-loan striker (German international Mërgim Berisha) permanently this year, it doesn’t look as if club management might retain any interest in retaining Yeboah now.
