Sevilla sporting director Monchi is in Istanbul with Sevilla FC for the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie against Fenerbahce.
On arrival in Turkey, the sporting director spoke to the media about the team’s situation in the competition and in La Liga, where they are still unable to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Monchi hopes they can get the points they need to avoid relegation, and according to his doctor, his health is at stake.
“The doctor told me that one day I’m going to die on the pitch,” he said in quotes reported by Estadio Deportivo.
“Let’s hope it doesn’t happen and that I can suffer a little less, but tomorrow we’re going to suffer and if we don’t score a goal, we’re going to have some tough moments.
“I’d like to think that we won’t suffer until the end, but the teams below us are fighting and you could stay up with 42 or 43 points. Now we have a run of games against rivals who are fighting at the bottom and we’ll see, but I can’t go so far as to predict the future.”
