L’Équipe are reporting that AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement is being consulted in the process to replace the club’s sporting director Paul Mitchell, who is set to depart in the Autumn.
Despite a mixed run of form, L’Équipe reports that the Belgian manager is set to remain at the club in the medium term. Clement has a contract that runs until the end of next season, and whilst nothing has been decided regarding an extension to that contract, there is currently no desire within the club to end their collaboration.
Clement, who reportedly rejected Leeds United’s approach in February, is happy at the club and is fully invested in the project of progressing young players. Eliesse Ben Seghir is arguably the most high-profile academy product to have broken through in recent times.
Clement is considered part of the furniture at Monaco to the extent that the former Club Brugge manager is even being consulted over the process to find Mitchell’s replacement. The Englishman, who has a contract until 2024, isn’t expected to stay beyond the summer transfer window, as reported by L’Équipe.
