Speaking as a pundit on CBS Sports Thierry Henry said that Paris Saint-Germain will find it difficult to keep Kylian Mbappé at the club following their Champions League exit in the round of 16 against Bayern Munich. Henry compared his own mentality when leaving Arsenal, and explained why he thinks the Frenchman should leave.
“I think it is going to be difficult to keep him even if he stayed last summer,” began the Frenchman, before Jamie Carragher boldly suggested that “Kylian Mbappé has got to leave that club”.
Henry then delved into his experience at Arsenal, specifically when he left the club in 2007 to join Barcelona. The former Gunner said: “I’ll tell you why I left Arsenal, I like to compete more than anything in the world. I loved Arsenal, but I loved to compete more.”
In what could be considered as an ominous message to Mbappé, Henry finished with “So if you like to compete, Kylian, you have to go and compete.”
“What’s the identify, what’s the philosophy, what’s the project?”
