Lyon’s top goal scorer, Alexandre Lacazette, who suffered a thigh injury during Lyon’s victory against Lens on February 12, has returned to team training. The club made the announcement on their Twitter account, which was later confirmed by Laurent Blanc during a press conference.
OL supporters will find this news as perfect timing considering the difficulty of the next few matches and the upcoming Coupe de France semifinals. Without their star striker, Lyon has won only one match against Angers, lost to Auxerre, drew with Lorient, and had a tough time qualifying for the semi-finals of the Coupe de France against Ligue 2 side Grenoble.
The 31-year-old forward has had an impressive restart with OL this season. On top of his 14 goals, he has 4 assists and earned his place as the third-highest goal scorer in OL’s history only one goal behind Bernard Lacombe. OL will face Lille, PSG, Rennes, and Nantes in the Coupe de France all within the next month. OL will hope that their star striker is available for those matchups.
