The DFB have today announced that Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini has been handed a further ban and has been fined €15,000.
Bensebaini (27) received a suspension after he was sent off for a second-bookable offence against Freiburg. First, he kicked the ball away in frustration in the 87th minute and then mocked the referee Benjamin Brand, which resulted in his dismissal. Upon exiting the pitch, Bensebaini then showed his frustration and insulted the referee in French.
Not only will Bensebaini miss Saturday’s game against RB Leipzig, but he will also miss the following game against Werder Bremen.
Bensebaini will leave Borussia Mönchengladbach when his contract expires at the end of the season. Although it’s yet to be made official, the left-back is expected to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, leaving Die Fohlen after joining the club from Rennes in 2019.
The Algerian’s suspension is also bad news for Daniel Farke, who has just two wins in his last eight Bundesliga games. Pressure already appears to be mounting on the head coach.
