Uli Hoeness has described Bayern Munich’s reported interest in Harry Kane as “completely crazy”.

The Bavarians have been linked with a move for the Tottenham star, who is out of contract in 2024, but the former club president believes the striker would be far too expensive.

“I think it would be a completely crazy transfer,” Hoeness said at an event hosted by the Abendzeitung newspaper in Munich.

“Last year, Tottenham turned down a €160 million offer from Manchester City. Do you think he’ll be cheaper this year? Harry Kane is a great player, no question. But I wouldn’t pay that kind of money.

Although Hoeness is no longer the club’s president, he’s still a member of Bayern’s supervisory board, which has to give the go-ahead for transfers over 25 million euros.

Bayern recently extended the contract of veteran striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting by another year until 2024.

The club’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, has since insisted that Choupo-Moting’s extension has no bearing on Bayern’s pursuit of Kane.
