Mahmoud Dahoud is expected to sign a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund beyond 2023, according to Bild.
With Axel Witsel leaving on a free transfer and Emre Can a candidate to leave the Westfalenstadion should BVB receive a suitable offer, extension talks with Dahoud are expected to begin shortly.
It’s also reported that the player feels comfortable in Dortmund and for new sporting director Sebastian Kehl, fits the clubs philosophy. Dahoud would provide competition for summer arrival Salih Özcan.
The 26-year-old played an important role under Marco Rose last season, playing 30 games in all competitions, but struggled with injury towards the latter part of the season.
Dahoud also featured prominently under Edin Terzić during his time as interim head coach. The appointment of Terzić in a full-time role is also a reason that Dahoud is likely to extend his contract.
Joining BVB from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2017 for €12m, Dahoud has played 131 games in all competitions, scoring five and creating 16.
