Everton manager Frank Lampard is keen to bring Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher to Goodison Park this summer, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
The 22-year-old impressed in the 2021/22 season while on loan at Crystal Palace, and Crook thinks Lampard now wants to sign him to improve his side in the middle of the park.
What is the latest news involving Gallagher?
The Telegraph recently reported that Lampard has Gallagher high on his list of transfer targets for this window.
However, according to the same outlet, the England international is set to be given a chance in pre-season at Chelsea, so the Everton boss may have to wait a while before making a move.
The Blues’ willingness to give Gallagher an opportunity comes as no surprise after the campaign he had at Palace.
There, he played 34 league games and came up with eight goals for Patrick Vieira’s side, which is a good return for a midfielder. Currently, he is valued at £42m by the CIES Football Observatory.

What has Crook said about Gallagher to Everton?
Crook has told GIVEMESPORT that Lampard is definitely interested in signing a new midfielder this summer and that Gallagher could be an option for him depending on Chelsea’s plans.
Speaking to GMS, the talkSPORT reporter said: “I think Frank Lampard is looking for Premier League experience. He definitely wants a midfielder in. I think he’s keen on Conor Gallagher if Chelsea are willing to send him out on loan again.”
What would Gallagher bring to Everton?
As already mentioned, Gallagher is a midfielder capable of scoring goals and has even been compared to Lampard, who was probably the best goalscoring midfielder of his generation.
“Conor has this passion for the game when he is on the field like a Ray Parlour, but I would say he has maybe the quality finishing of a Frank Lampard,” Palace boss Vieira said (via Sky Sports) when talking about Gallagher.
What also cannot go under the radar is the effort that he puts in, something else Vieira has discussed.
“We know his quality and we know he can be box-to-box. He can score goals but what is really impressive with him is his work ethic in training every day. When you have that kind of determination to challenge yourself and to improve, you will have more chance to succeed.”
Ultimately, Gallagher seems like the kind of player the Goodison Park faithful would love. However, a lot needs to happen before he ends up at Everton.
