Premier League trio undeterred by Moises Caicedo new contract

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has signed a new contract with the club until 2027, but that will not stop Premier League clubs from chasing him, according to The Telegraph.

Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are undeterred by the midfielder signing a new contract. He is still on their shortlist for the summer transfer window.

The Premier League trio will go to battle for Caicedo even if it means paying a hefty sum for the 21-year-old.

Arsenal and Chelsea pushed for Caicedo in the January transfer window, even making a bid of £70 million. They also had two more bids rejected for the player. The Gunners were looking for options to backup Thomas Partey in the centre of the park.

They wanted Caicedo and pushed for him. The player went on social media to say he wanted to leave the Seagulls, but they held on to him.

Arsenal eventually signed Jorginho from Chelsea, and he has been playing a crucial role for Mikel Arteta’s side in their chase for their first Premier League title since 2004.

Chelsea also pushed for him when they struggled to agree a deal with Benfica for Enzo Fernandez.

Former Brighton staff now at Chelsea, Paul Winstanley and Graham Potter, know the player from their time with the club.

Chelsea could not get him, but there is an expectation that they will come back for him or at least someone with his ball-winning profile in the summer transfer market. They need a more defensive midfielder to partner Fernandez in the midfield pivot.

The new deal Brighton gave Caicedo is to show how crucial he is to manager Roberto De Zerbi’s project. They gave him a salary increase to match his importance in the squad.

Arsenal will not return for the Ecuadorian international, with their attention now on West Ham United’s Declan Rice. They could return for him if they fail to agree a deal for Rice.
