Borussia Dortmund wish to extend the contracts of both Mats Hummels and Marco Reus, but with significantly lower conditions in their contracts, according to Sport1.
The new conditions would mean both Hummels and Reus will no longer be able to match their current salaries at Dortmund. Talks between Dortmund and Reus’ consultant Dirk Hebel recently took place about numbers, and the 33-year-old would like to stay at Dortmund.
Hummels would also like to stay at Dortmund and discussions with his father have also taken place. The 34-year-old will take a closer look at the development of Dortmund over the coming weeks to see if he can still play an important role. As of late he has lost his place to Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck.
A future in the MLS is also not ruled out for Hummels, who is a big US sports fan and regularly watches the Dallas Mavericks.
