Everton set to be offered chance to sign Duvan Zapata for £10m

Everton will be offered another chance to sign Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata in the summer, reports the Mirror.

The Toffees were keen on a loan move for the Colombian last month. An option to make the deal permanent for £15 million was also discussed, but it fell through.

Everton still need a striker as their goalscoring woes continue, and Zapata is set to be available.

The 31-year-old has fallen out with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Serie A are ready to sell Zapata for £10m as he approaches the last 12 months of his contract.

West Ham United and Nottingham Forest were also linked with the Atalanta forward, but they signed Danny Ings and Chris Wood, respectively.

Everton could face very little competition for Zapata, but they need to retain their Premier League status.

They have won two and lost two out of the four games manager Sean Dyche has overseen.

The Merseyside club remain in the relegation zone, but just a place and a point separate them from safety.

Everton have scored the least goals (17) in the Premier League this term. They need to improve significantly in the final third to boost their survival chances.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains on the sidelines due to fitness problems. The England international striker will miss Wednesday’s game against Arsenal.

Dyche has to find a way for Everton to win without Calvert-Lewin.

Having the hugely experienced Zapata next summer would be a boost for the Toffees.

His cut-price fee makes him an attractive option for a club on a shoestring budget due to Financial Fair Play rules.
