Barcelona are interested in Real Sociedad attacker Takefusa Kubo who is having an excellent season, according to AS.
Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez likes him and would like to bring him to Spotify Camp Nou.
Xavi’s interest in the player has led the authorities to start figuring out possibilities to sign him for their manager. They have called his agent to ask about his contract situation.
Kubo’s situation is quite complicated, and Barcelona are trying to see how feasible it is to make a deal.
The Japanese winger joined Real Sociedad last summer for only €6 million. Los Blancos included a right to first refusal in the contract, and they also hold 50% of his economic rights.
Kubo has a €60 million release clause in his contract, and if Barcelona pay that, Real Madrid will get €30 million (50%).
At the moment, Real Madrid do not have any interest in their former star Kubo. They are more focused on renewing Brahim Diaz’s contract and contemplating a new deal for Dani Ceballos. They also have Jude Bellingham as their number-one target.
At Barcelona, they believe Kubo will fit into the team’s style of play seamlessly. He was in Barcelona’syouth system, and they know all about him. They consider him a difference-maker.
For Barcelona, he fits the bill and meets their Barca profile. He is young (21) and has quality, physical capacity, speed, creativity, and speed of execution.
Kubo has four goals and three assists in 19 La Liga appearances for La Real this season. He also has two assists in the Europa League.
However, Barcelona might have to sell one or two players before Barcelona can sign him with their dwindling finances.
They have Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres, who all prefer to play on the right side of the attack. They could sell one of them to make way for Kubo.
