Despite slipping to a 0-2 defeat at home in their first Champions League round of 16 game against Napoli, Eintracht Frankfurt will not be travelling to Italy for the return leg “as tourists”, insisted Oliver Glasner after last night’s game.

Eintracht Frankfurt fell to a 0-2 defeat at home last night in the first of two Champions League last-16 games with Napoli.

Although they now have a mountain to climb in the second leg in Italy, Eintracht have far from given up yet.

“They had a very good 20, 25 minutes and made good use of that. We still have a chance, it is not a great one, but we can still take it,” Glasner said to UEFA.com after last night’s defeat.

“We are not going to Napoli as tourists. If we score the opener, it’s 1-0, then it is likely that they will get a little nervous.”

In order to get anything out of the second leg, Eintracht need to be better at holding on to the ball, said Jesper Lindstrøm.

“I feel sorry for the fans that we couldn’t perform better tonight,” the Eintracht winger noted.

“It was tough, they are one of the best sides in Europe at the moment; so full of confidence, they rarely ever lose. To get more out of the return game, we must stay calm – especially when we are on the ball. We gave it away too easily at times tonight.”
