According to Sport1, Hertha Berlin are considering a move for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Martin Hinteregger.
It’s reported that the 29-year-old Austrian international could cost between €3m-€5m.
Hertha’s sports director Fredi Bobic had brought Hinteregger to Frankfurt from Augsburg in January 2019. It’s possible he may hope to do the same again for his current club.
Despite having a contract until 2024, the defender looks more likely to move this summer.
This is partially down to the player admitting publically that the club told him to look elsewhere in the upcoming transfer window.
What’s more, Hinteregger caused a storm about a business relationship between him and right-wing extremist Heinrich Sickl from the FPÖ party.
The Austrian has since apologised, pleaded ignorance, and has stopped all links with the politician.
With all that has happened in recent months, it’s likely that Hinteregger will seek a fresh start at a different club.
