Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Celtic centre-back Carl Starfelt ahead of the summer, reports Fabrizio Romano.
English top-flight clubs will continue to splash the cash in subsequent transfer markets.
They spent almost £800 million on players during the January transfer window.
The likes of Celtic are targets for Premier League clubs given the quality of players they churn out. Some of the hidden gems in the United Kingdom can be found in the Scottish Premiership.
English clubs get to part with decent fees that Scottish sides can hardly reject. A couple of them would have watched Starfelt in action in recent months.
Celtic will try to hold on to him beyond this season but could fail if a juicy offer comes in. The 24-year-old Sweden international joined the Hoops in 2021.
He has since established a solid defensive partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers. The duo helped Celtic to Premiership glory last term and finished with the best defensive record in the league.
He also helped Ange Postecoglou’s side win the Scottish League Cup and has remained a key player.
Starfelt has played 19 games across all competitions this term and weighed in with two goals and one assist.
The 6ft 1in centre-back is a threat in the air at both ends of the pitch. He is also comfortable in possession and it is no surprise that Premier League clubs are watching him.
Plenty of them can offer him wages Celtic can only dream of. It is also arguably the best league in the world and a move there appeals to footballers.
