Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko will be missing through injury for up to six weeks, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
During Dortmund’s win against Werder Bremen last Saturday, Moukoko suffered a tear in the syndesmosis. As a result, the 18-year-old forward will miss both Champions League games against Chelsea and be out of action for around six weeks.
Moukoko sustained the injury in the first half of the game following a tackle from former BVB player Leanardo Bittencourt. A few minutes later, the German international had to be substituted.
This is the youngster’s second serious ligament injury. In March 2021, he had a similar injury when representing the DFB U21s and was out for three months. BVB will have to monitor the situation closely and ensure that Moukoko is back to full health before stepping foot on thr pitch again.
Dortmund host Chelsea in the round of 16 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
