Finn Dahmen has revealed that he expects to leave Mainz when his contract expires this summer.
Having played second fiddle to Robin Zentner for years, the 24-year-old goalkeeper wants to find regular playing time.
“Mainz have decided in favor of Robin several times in recent years. I assume my time in Mainz will come to an end in the summer. I just want to assert myself as a number one, that’s the best thing for my development,” Dahmen told Bild.
“The league doesn’t play a big role. Of course, you want to play in the Bundesliga. But I can also imagine a move to the 2. Bundesliga and going abroad is an option too. The decisive factors are the goalkeeping coach, playing style and, of course, the chances of playing.”
Dahmen has played the last six games for Mainz while Zentner has been out injured.
