As reported by Sport1, Karlsruher SC head coach Christian Eichner is also being considered for the TSG Hoffenheim job.
The 40-year-old is currently managing in the 2. Bundesliga and is under contract at Karlsruher until 2025. 14th in the league and without a win in five matches, Karlasruher are one of many teams in the division stuck in a tense relegation scenario. Just three points separate bottom side FC Magdeburg and 11th place Eintracht Braunschweig.
TSG would have to pay a fee should they decide to go with Eichner but the lure of the Bundesliga could be enough to persuade the coach. Eichner spent most of his playing career with Karlsruher before moving to Hoffenheim, where he played just one season between 2009 and 2010.
Other names in the hat include former Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl as well as Domenico Tedesco and Pellegrino Matarazzo.
Hoffenheim sacked André Breitenreiter with immediate effect last weekend following a 5-2 loss against fellow relegation rivals VfL Bochum. TSG are without a win since mid-October.
