Recently promoted 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern have added another goal-scorer to their attacking ranks. Former Reims, Lille, Bordeaux, and FC Metz goal machine Nicolas de Préville is headed to the Pfalz for his first foray into Germany at the age of 32. The former French youth international – with an estimated market worth of €1.8 million – is now by far the highest valued player in the Lautern squad and the second highest valued over-thirty professional in the second division.

Dirk Schuster’s Red Deveils already have decent scoring threats on the roster. Terrance Boyd (eight league goals), Kenny Prince Redondo (five league goals), and Daniel Hanslick (two league goals) now receive some company in the form of a forward who netted five league goals for Metz last season. The Frenchman has been clubless since leaving Metz in the summer.

Lautern currently sit in fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga table, but are widely regarded to be strong candidates for promotion. The former south-west German powerhouse from the Palatinate have not acquired a player of de Préville’s worth since their failed attempt to attain promotion back to the top flight during the 2013/14 2. Bundesliga campaign. The Pfälzer finished fourth that year.
