As reported by Sky Germany, Union Berlin have made contact with Isco – the 30-year-old has been without a club after leaving Sevilla last month.
It is reported that Union have submitted a request to the midfielder and the signing of Isco is a topic within the dressing room at Köpenick. This comes after Union look to increase the quality within their team, especially in midfield, which can also be seen with the arrival of Aïssa Laïdouni.
Isco has received offers from Saudi Arabia which he has rejected, whilst the Spanish international has also attracted interest from Juventus, Wolves and LA Galaxy. However, despite Union’s slight interest, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg also adds that a transfer to the Berlin club is unrealistic.
Union are currently second in the Bundesliga, three points behind Bayern Munich. As well as managing a push for European football, they must also navigate the Europa League where they play Ajax in the playoff.
The arrival of Isco could prove vital when it comes to European experience as he has won the Champions League five times with former club Real Madrid.
